Draped bust of Kavadh I to right, wearing mural crown with frontal crescent and korymbos set on crescent, ribbons and crescents on shoulders; star behind crown; before head, ‘kwʾt’ = ‘Kawād’ (‘Kavadh’ in blundered Pahlavi). Rev. Fire altar with ribbons, flanked by two attendants; above altar, star and crescent; to left, ‘kwʾt’ = ‘Kawād’ (‘Kavadh’ in blundered Pahlavi); to right, AY (abbreviation for the name of the mint in Pahlavi). Göbl type I/1. SNS III/2, type I/1. Very fine.
